In the countryside of Japan, people appeal to the nature and live in harmony with it. There, culture and tradition born from various wisdom and techniques to survive from the harsh natural environment have created a secondary natural environment. However, because of aging and the progress of population outflow to the city, as well as the change of industrial structures, resource usage in the countryside has stagnated and the biological community has also been changed.
While communicating aggressively with the countryside which is very different from the past, Satoyama Development Section has been studying a society system that can promote the sustainable usage and strategies for using regional resources including the residents, so as to promote the education and regional contribution activities based on this achievement.
